Our management, RAJYA Vokkaligara Sangha was founded in the year 1906 to promote social, cultural and educational aspirations of the agricultural community. Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha with a commanding presence in Bangalore, Mandya, Mysore, Hassan, Tumkur, and Kolar districts and with a fairly well spread presence in other regions of Karnataka has been conducting number of regular activities for the development and well-being of the community in particular and to all sections of the society in general. The sangha has also provide hostel facilities for poor background student and students are making use of this hostel facilities during their education carrier. The Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha comprise of 35 members

Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four years B.E. degree course should have passed two years of P.U.C. Examinations conducted by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka State or any other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visveswaraya Technology University and should have obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate of optional subjects.
For admission and eligibility criteria for all the Programmes refer to the University notification from time to time or visit university website (www.vtu.ac.in).
Candidates must have passed in all subjects in which they have appeared in Class 10 (excluding optional subjects).
Candidates must have two years of P.U.C. Examinations conducted by the Pre-University Board of Karnataka State or any other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visveswaraya Technology University.
Candidates must hold a Bachelors Degree of Visveswaraya Technology University or any other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visveswaraya Technology University incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament. This degree must entail a minimum of four years of education obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate.

In the memory of renowned engineer Sir M.Visveswaraya, his birthday is celebrated as Engineers Day. As a tribute to this great engineer, Department of Civil Engineering, BIT, celebrated engineers day on 4th October 2016.
An engineering graduate must not only have knowledge but also skills to fulfil the industry need. To enhance the theoretical knowledge and the skill for practical application of students, experts from various fields were invited and asked to deliver few key points to the students to inculcate skills apart from curriculum in order to prepare them for a challenging professional career.
The eminent guests were Er. A N Prakash (Managing Director, A N Prakash construction project management consultants Pvt. Ltd.), Er. B A Madhukar (Chairman, Instruct. M. D. & CEO Potential Project manager Pvt. Ltd.), Er. N R Ashok (Director, ACE Technologies), Er. K Manjunath (M.D., R M Consultants), Er. Sapna Devendra (Regional Manager- South Ambuja Cements Ltd.), Er. Ravishankar J B (President Grips, India).
Er. A N Prakash briefed the students about employability and being employable. He made students understand the desirable qualities they should possess in order to be an employable candidate. Er. B A Madhukar spoke about the expectations of employers and why they are hesitant to employ fresh engineering graduates. He also mentioned certain qualities, students should possess in order to become an asset to the company they are part of. Er Sapna Devendra enriched the students about values and ethics a responsible engineer should have in his profession. The other speakers in the same way educated the students in their field of expertise.
The celebrations not only included expertise talk, students actively participated in competitions such as model making, poster making, presentation of technical papers and short movie making. Around twenty teams participated in model making and prepared very challenging models such as a scale model of nagarjuna sagar dam, model of water treatment plant, earthquake resistant high rise structures etc. There were also many teams which participated in poster making, presentation of technical papers and short movie making. The delegates appreciated the students with their comments and compliments and also contributed their tips in order to improve upon their work. The best performers in different competitions were awarded prizes in order to showcase our appreciation.
On the whole Engineers day 2016 was a grand success with the achievement of the objective Skill development for young engineers to reform the core sector: Vision 2025. The credit goes to the faculty and students of the department of civil engineering.

BIT is currently affiliated
to VTU. The institute initially offered the Bachelor of
Engineering degrees in Computer
Science, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation Technology, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical,
Information Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering and
Management. Bangalore Institute of Technology was the first institute to
introduce a full-fledged Computer
Science and Engineering course in Karnataka. It is
recognized by the AICTE and has been accredited by NBA. At
present BIT offers 9 undergraduate, 10 post graduate and
a PhD course(s) with a student body of more than 4000.
There are a number of centers carrying out inter-disciplinary research and many collaborative programmes exist between the college and other institutions such as the Institute of Science (IISc) and National Aerospace Laboratories (N.A.L.). The college is also a program center for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Teaching and research work is supported by facilities such as a central library with 90000 volumes of text books and reference books and an Industrial Consultancy and Research Center. The institute has an auditorium (1200 seating capacity), seminar hall, co-operative society, canteen, and cultural sections as well as hostels for boys and girls.
